Terms of Service

Welcome to School Reviews. By accessing or using our website at schoolreviews.co.zw (the "Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree with these terms, please do not use the Platform. These terms are governed by the laws of Zimbabwe, including the Cyber and Data Protection Act, 2021, the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, and the Constitution of Zimbabwe.

1. About the Platform

School Reviews is a community-driven platform that enables parents and guardians in Zimbabwe to share their experiences with schools through reviews, ratings, and Q&A. The Platform is operated as a public interest service to help families make informed decisions about their children's education.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account and use the Platform. By registering, you confirm that you are 18 years of age or older. In accordance with the Cyber and Data Protection Act, persons under 18 may only use the Platform with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian.

3. Account Registration

To submit reviews, questions, or answers, you must create an account. You agree to provide accurate and complete information during registration and to keep your account credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

4. User Content and Reviews

When submitting reviews, questions, answers, or other content on the Platform, you agree to the following:

• Your reviews must be honest and based on genuine personal experience with the school.
• Reviews must reflect your own opinions. You may not submit reviews on behalf of others or for schools you have no connection to.
• You must not make false statements of fact about any school, teacher, or individual. Reviews should express opinions, not present unverified claims as facts. Under Zimbabwean law, false statements that damage a person's or institution's reputation may constitute defamation.
• You must not include hate speech, threats, obscene language, or content that discriminates against any person or group based on race, ethnicity, gender, religion, or disability.
• You must not include personal contact information of school staff (such as personal phone numbers or home addresses) or confidential information about students.
• You must not submit spam, promotional content, or content unrelated to school experiences.

5. Content Moderation

We reserve the right to review, edit, or remove any content that violates these terms, our community guidelines, or Zimbabwean law. We may also remove content in response to valid legal complaints or court orders. While we strive to maintain a fair and open platform, we are not obligated to publish all submitted content. Content flagged by our automated moderation system may be held for manual review.

6. Intellectual Property

The School Reviews name, logo, design, and underlying code are the intellectual property of School Reviews. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the Platform without our prior written consent. All trademarks and branding remain the property of their respective owners.

7. User Content Licence

By submitting content to the Platform, you grant School Reviews a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use, display, reproduce, and distribute your content on the Platform and for promotional purposes. You retain ownership of your content and may request its removal at any time by contacting us or deleting your account.

8. Defamation and Legal Responsibility

Reviews on School Reviews represent the personal opinions of individual users and do not represent the views of School Reviews. Under Zimbabwean law, while freedom of expression is protected by Section 61 of the Constitution, this does not extend to malicious injury to a person's reputation. You are solely responsible for the content you submit. If your review contains false statements of fact that damage someone's reputation, you may be held liable for defamation under the Defamation Act and the Cyber and Data Protection Act. School Reviews acts as an intermediary platform and is not the author of user-generated content.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless School Reviews, its operators, and affiliates from and against any claims, damages, losses, or legal proceedings arising from your use of the Platform, your submitted content, or your violation of these Terms. This includes any defamation claims arising from reviews you have posted.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Platform is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We make no warranties, express or implied, regarding the accuracy, reliability, or completeness of any content on the Platform, including user reviews. We do not guarantee that the Platform will be available at all times, uninterrupted, or free of errors. Reviews represent the opinions of individual users, and we do not verify the accuracy of all claims made in reviews.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Zimbabwean law, School Reviews shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Platform. Our total liability for any claim related to the Platform shall not exceed the amount you have paid us, if any, in the 12 months preceding the claim.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Platform at any time, with or without notice, for any violation of these Terms. You may also delete your account at any time. Upon termination, your right to use the Platform ceases immediately, but provisions that by their nature should survive (including indemnification, limitation of liability, and governing law) will continue to apply.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Your continued use of the Platform after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms. We encourage you to review these terms periodically.

14. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Zimbabwe. Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or your use of the Platform shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Zimbabwe.
